We stand with #RealLifeHeroes: Resco in the nonprofit sector

In 2008, the United Nations declared August 19 as World Humanitarian Day (WHD) in commemoration of the 2003 bomb attack on the UN headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, killing 22 humanitarians. Since then, it’s a day for recognizing and celebrating those working relentlessly on making the world a better place for the less privileged, often even risking their lives to do so.

All over the world, we’re still in the middle of fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes the work of humanitarian activists and organizations ever so challenging and dangerous. This year’s WHD focuses on these #RealLifeHeroes, who continue to protect and save lives despite the risks and threats posed by the pandemic.
