You might have heard the news. Resco was recognized in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms 2018 report.
But wait a minute: Isn‘t Resco a mobile client for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce? After all it’s the app called Resco Mobile CRM that most end users download from app stores. However, after almost 10 years of relentless development it has become a lot more than just a mobile app/client.
Resco has a long history in providing development tools that help organizations create their own mobile apps. In 2003 we introduced Mobile Forms Toolkit – a set of controls, components and libraries that helped 4000+ corporate customers (e.g. American Airlines, Coca Cola, Hewlett-Packard, NASA, Siemens) rapidly speed up their app development process.
After our focus shifted to CRM mobility in 2009, one of the defining traits of Resco Mobile CRM has become its immense customizability. Every company can modify it to suit their needs and processes and today Resco Mobile CRM is used by more than 2000 corporate customers.
Originally Resco Mobile CRM Studio – a developer extension for Visual Studio – was introduced for that purpose. However, we wanted to make customization even easier. That’s why we introduced Woodford in 2011, to enable code-free modifications even to non-developers.
In the beginning, Resco Mobile CRM integrated only with Microsoft Dynamics 365/CRM. However we’ve continuously added support for Salesforce and other back-end systems throughout the years. We’ve also built our own backend – the Resco CRM server. So customers looking for mobility can use Resco products even if they’re not running Dynamics 365 or Salesforce.
Yet another usage scenario came as a result of Resco Mobile CRM’s versatility: Apps for external users. Companies can design consumer-grade apps (using Woodford and the out-of-the-box version of Resco Mobile CRM as stepping stones), connect them with their back-end systems and provide them to partners or customers. For example, a gym that gives an app to its members. They can track their visits, see the list of classes they can take, book a personal trainer, access a collection of healthy recipes, buy sportswear or nutrition supplements, etc. And a mobile app can be an ideal tool to streamline collaboration with your business partners, contractors, volunteers or other allies. Those can use it to update their contact details, create orders without the need to call or e-mail, get information on pending shipments and much more.
For all of the technology mentioned above (and some more), we’ve started using the Resco Cloud moniker (see below).
This year we’ve also announced 3 new standalone products utilizing various aspects of Resco Cloud technology – Inspections, Route Planner, and City Smart Services. And with expanding capabilities, Resco Mobile CRM and Woodford have become a true Mobile Application Development Platform. Enabling to develop business mobile apps (not just mobile CRM) with minimum to no code. On top of this platform we still have a ready-to-use mobile solution, ideal for sales and field service, that is the Resco Mobile CRM app. Nothing changes in that regard – the app can still be entirely configured to fit your processes, while also offering powerful functionality straight out of the box.
But ultimately, the wide range of possibilities offered by Resco Mobile CRM in combination with the Woodford configurator is the reason why Resco is featured in the latest Magic Quadrant for Mobile Application Development Platforms.
