How to personalize the dashboard in the mobile CRM client for Dynamics CRM

Mobile dashboards: simply explained

A mobile dashboard, just like a dashboard in Dynamics CRM, acts as some sort of a homepage for your CRM – it’s the first thing that pops up when you open the app and its goal is to show you things that matter to you packed neatly into one place.

By default, a Resco Mobile CRM dashboard shows 3 charts: orders, opportunities and cases. Not exactly a perfect fit for everyone. So why not create one that’ll work for you? Why not get it just right?

First, let’s get a rough idea of what dashboards can do within Mobile CRM client:

And now let’s do some customizing.

Instructions:

Step 1: Sign into Woodford with your CRM login credentials and open your mobile project.

Step 2: Select Dashboard from the left panel > create New

Create New Dashboard

Next, write the Name of the new dashboard.

Note: you can create as many dashboards as you need – simply repeat this second step.

Step 2 (alternate): Instead of creating a new dashboards, select the ˈDashboardFormˈ to modify the default one.

Step 3: In the Properties section, choose the number of Columns and Rows

Dashboard PropertiesDefine how many columns and rows the dashboard should have. This creates a number of windows – you can then insert a different content into each.

You can create as many as 16 windows in one dashboard (4 x 4). But bear in mind the size of the screen on a mobile device. Don’t go overboard, if it’s not necessary – you still want to keep it user friendly for mobile users.

Step 4 (optional): Resize the windows.

Drag the border of a window to merge it with another window(s).

Step 5: Insert Views, Charts or iFrames

Click on an empty window and then click on the ˈViewˈ button to insert one. Choose an entity, view(s) and set the initial view.

If you select more views within a window, it will be possible to switch between them.

The same goes for inserting Charts.

For iFrames, type the URL of an online website or of a HTML file that will be also accessible offline.

Step 6: Hit Save & Close.

Step 7: Add the Dashboard to the Home Menu

Go to the ˈHomeˈ section in the left panel and drag the newly created Dashboard from the right column (Available Items) to the Home column. This step makes the dashboard not only available in the mobile project, but also visible as a section in the item menu.

You can Rename the dashboard, if you wish to.

Hit Save and then Publish All.

Step 8: Sync the app and see the results.
