Let me demonstrate what the typical usage of Resco CRM alongside second CRM server looks like on a real-life example. The example of a specific company: Resco.
Our team already began using Resco CRM for internal purposes. Sort of. We say sort of because only part of our staff switched to Resco CRM and the rest remained working with Microsoft Dynamics CRM.
In 2009, Resco entered the CRM industry with Resco Mobile CRM client for Microsoft Dynamics CRM – hence we began to use Resco Mobile CRM on the go and Microsoft Dynamics CRM in the office. Many of us were using different CRM solution on the desktop and on mobile for 6 years. Until now. recently, part of our staff switched to Resco CRM.
Currently, we have 36 people on our team. We started off by listing the functionalities our staff requires out of a CRM system.
As for the whole company, we first had to evaluate for whom is switching to Resco CRM (with its mobile workforce) most worthwhile. You can learn by listing down the functionalities your staff is looking for in a CRM client:

We then realized that not all CRM users require robust CRM systems. Employees like salesmen or field technicians need quite simple functionality, but they do need a mobile access.
Mobile CRM users are not looking for advanced features of complex CRM systems – and so you should not pay extra for something you don’t use.
The intelligent way to save on expenses is to offer Resco CRM to the Sales and Service departments and more complex CRM to the rest.

How exactly is using Resco CRM in parallel with other CRM system cost-effective?
